College Hosts 2nd Annual Youth Symphony Music Camp
Brunswick, GA – The campus of the College of Coastal Georgia will host the 2nd annual Coastal Youth Symphony Music Camp, under the director of Maestro Luis Haza, CYS Music Director and Conductor. Eighty-one students will be participating in the music camp the week of July 8-13, including 26 in the primary strings program and 51 members of the Coastal Youth Symphony. The purpose of the camp is to develop students’ techniques and skills, teach new repertoire for the CYS performances during the 2012-2013 season, and enhance the sense of community and camaraderie of the student musicians who perform as members of the CYS. Camp instruction includes private lessons, sectional rehearsals and full orchestra rehearsals as well as group lessons for the primary strings program. Maestro Haza has assembled a diverse faculty from the southeast coast, Kansas City, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Returning this year: Ray Clark (trumpet), Jessica Hauser-Brydon (viola), Destiny Hoyle (violin), Shannon Lockwood (cello), Todd Lockwood (bass), Eleonel Molina (violin), Sean Morgan (horn), Crystal Murphy (strings), Marty Oberlander (flute and clarinet), Martie Pahris (trombone, baritone and tuba), and Elizabeth Roberts (bassoon and oboe). Michael Leeth (percussion) from Waycross, GA, will be joining the camp faculty this year. ### | |
