Brunswick, GA – Ophelia Santos, D.W.S., an accredited U.S. wine educator, will return to the Golden Isles for a Chablis wine seminar and food pairing to benefit the Culinary Arts program of the College of Coastal Georgia. The seminar and tasting will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the A.W. Jones Heritage Center of the Coastal Georgia Historical Society, 610 Beachview Drive, St. Simons Island.
Santos will provide an overview of French Chablis, pouring five specially-selected white wines from the Chablis district. Her Bordeaux wine tasting in December 2013 to benefit the College’s Culinary Arts program was a sell-out. Student chefs in the Culinary Arts program, under the direction of Chef Matthew Raiford and Chef Steve Ingersoll, will prepare tasty bites to complement the wines.
Santos, whose restaurant experience includes proprietorship of the Ali-Oli restaurant in Atlanta, is the founder/director of WineWise, an approved program provider for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) certification classes in Atlanta. She holds a level 4 diploma in wines and spirits from WSET.Tickets for the Chablis seminar are $80/person. Due to limited space, pre-payment is required by July 21. The tickets can be purchased online at http://www.ccga.edu/events. For more information, please call the School of Business and Public Affairs, College of Coastal Georgia, 912-279-5852.
