CCGA honors athletes

College of Coastal Georgia honored all of its athletes from the 2012-13 school year at its all-sports banquet on Tuesday.
Men's golfer Dylan Freeman and women's basketball player Crystal Chaney were named the school's Student-Athletes of the Year at the ceremony. Freeman, a junior from Athens, won two tournaments this season and leads the Southern States Athletic Conference with a 72.95 stroke average. He also has a 3.41 grade-point average.
Chaney, a senior from Lawrenceville, led the Mariner women to their first NAIA national tournament by averaging 11.7 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game. She was an NAIA Honorable Mention all-American and will graduate this spring.
Also at the banquet, each team honored their Most Valuable Players and Mariner Award winners. Some teams chose to name their top honor the Mariner Award to recognize players for their all-around contributions to their teams.
The Mariner Award winners were Christine Braddy (women's softball) and Janne Tullius (women's basketball). The MVPs were Sunshine Beba (women's tennis), Christian Liggin (women's golf), Holly Hammer (women's volleyball), Reggie Burke (men's basketball), Freeman (men's golf) and Louis Volclair and Jose Zaatini (men's tennis).
