Mariners hit tournament road
From the The Brunswick News
College of Coastal Georgia senior basketball player Brittany Clark is reporting from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national tournament in Frankfort, Ky., where the CCGA women are headed to get ready for their first round game Thursday against Cumberland University of Lebanon, Tenn.
We left Brunswick Sunday afternoon and traveled all evening, arriving at our hotel in Knoxville, Tenn., around 11 p.m.
We got some rest, checked out by 9 a.m. Monday and headed to a practice session we had set up at the University of Tennessee.
There, the mission was to get shots in and get up and down the floor.
They say the Mecca of basketball is Madison Square Garden in New York City, but Tennessee and Pat Summitt have done so much for the women's game that it was a true honor and great experience to step onto Summitt Court where the Lady Volunteers play. It was an honor to just step on it, let alone watch my team get to practice on it.
After all, my bedroom walls growing up weren't orange by coincidence.
After a tough practice at the great UT facility, we hit the road again, heading to where we all have been waiting to arrive, the NAIA national tournament in Frankfort, Ky.
This morning we will be headed to a local elementary school to give back to the community, and in the evening, we will attend the national NAIA banquet.
