International Association to Host Singer Karl Davis

Brunswick, GA Karl Davis lives on Amelia Island, but his best-known performance venue is Nantes, France. The International Association on campus has invited Davis to lecture and perform at the College on Monday, February 25. Both programs are free and open to the general public.

Davis is one of the founders of the Urban Voices Choir in Nantes, France. Originally an inner city choir of 50 at-risk teens, the event has grown to a 1,000 members singing music in four languages at a cultural festival held annually in Nantes during the summer. A songwriter as well as a singer, Davis describes his personal style as gospel-laden blues and soul. He has performed with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, the Neville Brothers, Dr. John, Greg Allman, Charlie Daniels, the Jerry Garcia Band, Little Feat and Lynard Skynard, to name a few.

On February 25, Davis will lecture and share a video about the cross-cultural “Urban Voices” program at 4 p.m. in room 102 of the Jones Building. His six-musician concert will follow later that evening at 6 p.m. in the Terrill Thomas Auditorium of the Southeast Georgia Conference Center.
