College to Host Ossia Chamber Players in New Concert Series
“From the City to the Golden Isles”

Brunswick, GA – The College of Coastal Georgia will welcome the Ossia Chamber Players, members of New York City’s Ossia Symphony Orchestra, for the inaugural performance of “From the City to the Golden Isles” concert series on Friday evening, December 7. The concert includes a guest appearance by Maestro Luis Haza, internationally-renowned violinist, Music Director and Conductor of the Coastal Youth Symphony.
Julie and Eric Epstein, residents of New Jersey and Sea Island, established the concert series through a gift to the College Foundation in May 2012. Philanthropist and arts advocate Julie Epstein served on the Foundation’s Planning Committee for Cultural, Arts and Lifelong Learning Programs during 2011.
Orlando Alonso, Artistic Director and Conductor of the OSSIA Symphony Orchestra, and 15 musicians with the symphony orchestra will play Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Op. 40 and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings. Maestro Haza will be the featured soloist for Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor.
The Cuban-born pianist and conductor Orlando Alonso, who is the founder of the Ossia Symphony Orchestra, was most recently seen onstage in Brunswick as the piano accompanist for Maestro Luis Haza’s benefit performance December 2, 2010, for cultural and performing arts programming at the College.
The concert, which will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Thomas Auditorium of the Southeast Georgia Conference Center on campus, will be followed by a cocktail buffet catered by the Coastal Georgia Culinary Arts students.
