
Dr. William B. Carlton joins College of Coastal Georgia Faculty
Brunswick, Ga. – Dr. William B. “Bee” Carlton has been appointed Professor of Systems Engineering and Operations at the College of Coastal Georgia. He will also serve as Senior Advisor for Athletic Planning and a member of the President's Cabinet.
“We are thrilled that Dr. Carlton is joining us to bring additional leadership to our exciting journey of growth and transformation,” said College President Dr. Valerie Hepburn. “He will be an excellent addition as we continue to build our academic and athletic missions.”
Dr. Carlton previously served as Director of Athletics at Presbyterian College, a position he held for the past six years. During his time at Presbyterian, Dr. Carlton led the college’s athletics program, one of the nation’s largest among small, elite undergraduate schools, through its successful move from NCAA Division II to Division I and into membership in the Big South Athletic Conference. Dr. Carlton previously served as professor of systems engineering and operations research at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He also served as the faculty liaison to the academy’s athletic programs.
A native of Brunswick, Dr. Carlton brings to the College more than 25 years of successful higher education experience, working across academic, athletic and student life programming. He is a retired, decorated Colonel in the U.S. Army. Dr. Carlton earned his PhD in Operations Research from The University of Texas at Austin, his MS in Operations Research from Georgia Tech and his BS in Mathematics from Presbyterian College.
