College of Coastal Georgia Student Housing - Coming Fall 2011

A new Student Housing project will provide 350 beds in July 2011 and will be the introduction of housing on the College of Coastal Georgia campus. The initial intent is to provide approximately 140 units in the two-single-bedroom semi-suite layout, approximately 160 units in the four-single-bedroom suite layout, and approximately 50 units in the two-single-bedroom suite layout.

The recently completed College of Coastal Georgia Strategic Master Plan (May 2009) established a 2010 baseline enrollment goal of 3,000 students. The 2009 fall semester enrollment has already exceeded that number. To meet the next enrollment projection of 4,000 students by 2015, the construction of 600 on-campus housing units is required. A market study dated June 23, 2009 was conducted by Anderson Strickler, LLC. The market study concluded that based on enrollment projections taken from the strategic master plan, the demand for housing would reach 515 beds in 2010.

Students who reside in residence halls tend to develop skills in a variety of areas including interpersonal leadership skills. The on-campus housing will provide a residential living and learning environment that is positive, safe and healthy and an environment that supports a very high degree of academic achievement. On campus student housing at the College of Coastal Georgia will play an important role in the support of the institution's mission to deliver a quality education at a reasonable cost. The campus student housing is a critical component of the strategic plan which envisions the institutional transformation to a destination state college with robust student services and activities. Campus housing will also supports campus initiatives to strengthen student recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts.
