Lakeside Village

The developer team of H. J. Russell & Company was selected for the design, construction and furnishing of the first student housing facility on campus. The design architect was Lott+Barber.

The student housing project provided 350 student beds and an apartment for the Resident Hall Director. The complex includes 3 different variations of room settings, as follows: 70 – 2 bedroom semi-suite units for a total of 140 beds (2 individual bedrooms and a common bathroom); 25 – 2 bedroom suites for a total of 50 beds (2 individual bedrooms, a common bathroom and a living area; and 40 – 4 bedroom suites for a total of 160 beds (4 individual bedrooms, 2 common bathrooms and a living area). In addition, the complex includes a reception/information desk at the main entrance, laundry room with washers and dryers, a game room, a multi-purpose room with an adjacent catering kitchen for special functions, study areas throughout the facility, and residents-only parking to accommodate 300. Access to the parking lot, the building, and to the suites is controlled by the students ID card and each student bedroom is controlled by their individual key.

Students who reside in residence halls tend to develop skills in a variety of areas including interpersonal leadership skills. The on-campus housing provides a residential living and learning environment that is positive, safe and healthy and an environment that supports a very high degree of academic achievement. On-campus student housing at the College of Coastal Georgia plays an important role in the support of the institution's mission to deliver a quality education at a reasonable cost. The campus student housing is a critical component of the strategic plan which envisions the institutional transformation to a destination state college with robust student services and activities. Campus housing also supports campus initiatives to strengthen student recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts.
