Coastal Georgia tops Perimeter 87-77

Johathan Brooks scored 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds Saturday to lead the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners to a 87-77 home win over Georgia Perimeter in Georgia Junior College Athletic Association play at Howard Coffin Gym.

Tray Pearce finished with 17 points for the Mariners (13-11 overall, 7-1 GJCAA), who won for the sixth straight time. Kentorey Johnson tallied 13 points and pulled down a team-high 15 rebounds, Jaren Harris finished with 16 points, and Brooks had five assists in the CCGA win.

After falling behind early, the Mariners rebounded to take a 44-32 lead at halftime and never were threatened in the second half. Coastal Georgia shot 44.8 percent from the field and 71.9 percent from the free throw line.

CCGA is back at home Saturday with a conference game against Atlanta Metro, which will be the Mariners' fourth straight conference home game. Thus far, Coastal Georgia has not lost since a 86-69 setback Jan. 11 at Middle Georgia College, a loss they avenged on Jan. 27 at home.
