Willou Copeland Smith is a native of Glynn County, Georgia, where she attended Glynn Academy. After High school, she majored in Music therapy at Florida University; there she became a finished concert harpist.

Ms. Smith had instilled in her early on, by her father, a passionate drive to serve the public. In the late 1970’s she played an active role in several Chamber of Commerce initiatives. In 1977 she chaired the St. Simon’s Art Festival. In a 1980 landslide victory, Ms. Smith won a four-year term on the Glynn County Commission. Later in 1986, Ms. Smith was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives and served Georgia in that capacity for 10 years.

Ms. Smith’s public service is not solely laid in the political arena, but stretches to include community service and outreach. She was an initial Member of the Jekyll Island Foundation; former Director of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club and participated in Blueprint Brunswick.

Ms. Smith is married to Bill Smith and they have two children.
