Rees M. Sumerford has practiced with the law firm of Gilbert, Harrell, Sumerford & Martin, P.C., and been its managing partner for over 30 years. He is graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Georgia School of Law. Mr. Sumerford is a Fellow with the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a member of its Charitable Planning and Exempt Organizations Committee and on the Board of the ACTEC Foundation. He is also a former State Chair of ACTEC. He is a former member of the Georgia Probate Code Revision Committee, the Georgia Guardianship Code Revision Committee, and the Georgia Trust Code Revision Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Tax Conference. He is a Trustee of the Wesley Memorial Trust. He is a member of Christ Church, Frederica, and serves as its Treasurer. He is married to Brooke Sumerford and they have two children, Harlow and Chase.
